Award of the Tilden Medal of the Royal Society of Chemistry

Professor Goodby was awarded the Tilden Lectureship and Medal of the Royal Society of Chemistry for the 2002/03 academic year. The award was made for seminal contributions to the physics and chemistry of liquid crystals, including the principles of fast-switching ferroelectric and antiferroelectric materials in liquid crystal displays, and for elucidating the biological role of liquid crystals in carbohydrates and glycolipids.
